Indian Classical Music Therapist

Rajam Shanker is a Independent Practicing and Consultant Indian Classical Music Therapist, associated with medical and rehabilitation professionals and institutions in dealing specifically with Autism, Healing, Curative Education and related Developmental Disabilities in children and adults. She also has a Masters in Vedic Astrology and researches its employment as a medical evaluation and diagnostic tool. Therapists from other disciplines, both Indian and Overseas have shown keen interest in her group and client specific therapeutic intervention methodology.

Her work has received critical and popular acclaim in both, the print and visual media and she has delivered talks and participated in live discussions on a number of Regional Television Channels, FM Radio, and at National and International Seminars speaking on the significance of Music Therapy and scope of its application. She has been invited to make presentations at multiple National and International Workshops both in India and abroad, including those held at the School of Health Sciences, University of Hyderabad, BHU Benares, School of Mental Health at VIMHANS New Delhi, Apollo Hospital Hyderabad, EMTC2010 European Music Therapy Congress at Cadiz, Spain, and WFMT2011 World Congress of Music Therapy at Seoul, South Korea and Workshops for Caregivers at Dubai. Recipient of Rotary’s Vocational Excellence Award, she has made presentations at a number of professional training institutions, educational institutions, Senior Citizens’ welfare associations and clubs on employing Music Therapy in improving and maintaining Health and Wellness.

Over 100 episodes of her informative talks on the significance of different Ragas in Music Therapy have been broadcast on tv7healthplanet, a Telugu Language Regional Channel, on the Hathaway and Digi Cable networks.
