Dr. K R Gangadharan

Former President – International Federation on Aging

Dr. K. R. Gangadharan, Chairman, Heritage Foundation and Founder of India’s premier private geriatric healthcare facility in 1994 at Hyderabad was privileged to serve on the Board of the International Federation on Ageing from 2004 till 2014 and became its Global President during 2012-14. He served as a Board Member of the Washington DC based International Association of Homes and Services for the Ageing for over five years.

Dr. Gangadharan served both the manufacturing and healthcare industries for over a decade before becoming an entrepreneur. During his management career, he served as the head of operations of Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, head of Industrial Relations division of Hindustan Motors Limited, Chennai besides serving the well-known south Indian company, Lucas TVS Limited.

He has addressed several international conferences around the world on ageing including the United Nations New York, UN ESCAP in Thailand and WHO South East Asian Region and contributed to several publications.

He served one term as a Member of the National Council of Older Persons and as a Member of the Committee to review the NPOP 1999. He is a member of the Executive Committee of National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The ministry invited him to serve the committee to design distribution of assisted living devises to senior citizens living in povert. He serves the committee to review the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007. He is a member of the Core Group, Protection and Welfare Senior Citizens constituted by the National Human Rights Commission.
